The opportunity

Our halls are more than just a place to stay; they are a place to call home. We want our students to have the best living experience possible and pride ourselves in providing a first class customer orientated service in the provision of safe, secure and affordable accommodation.

London is a city that never stops and neither do our Halls of Residence! Due to an increase in resident needs outside of the traditional ‘9-5’, we are expanding our service to reflect a true 24/7 operation and we are expanding our team to help manage the service round the clock with Resident Assistants firmly at the heart of the team.

As Resident Assistant you will deliver a range of customer focused and building services in and around the resident’s flats & rooms and you will be the first point of contact for many different enquires and support.

The Resident Assistant role is the front line service to our residing students. From changing a light bulb or cleaning a kitchen to assisting in reception or doing grounds maintenance, the role is key in to giving our students an experience they’ll never forget. No day is ever the same and you would be working within a fantastic team 35 hours a week across a set shift pattern (between Monday – Sunday 08:00 – 20:00) covering 365 days a year. If you have experience in either front of house customer service, handyman maintenance, cleaning or security the this is the perfect role for if you’re seeking a new challenge!

About you

You will have extensive experience in the maintenance of domestic and building environments with demonstrable skills in one of the following: basic plumbing, basic carpentry, and cleaning and security provisions. A City & Guilds qualification in relation to any field within the area of maintenance of domestic and building environments is advantageous but not essential.

You will be required to demonstrate an understanding of Health and Safety legislation and be used to working within procedures & measure to control risks to yourselves and others. An understanding of specific health and safety procedures relating to building management such as COSHH & Fire evacuation practices is desirable.

You will provide first class customer service to many different people and must therefore be able to maintain a friendly courteous attitude at all times. You must be able to work well under pressure and can work unsupervised for periods as well as being part of a wider team. You will be computer literate and have a basic understanding & working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications; including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Full training will be provided for role specific activities and duties including SIA Security qualification.

You will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
