The opportunity

This is the chance to make the most of your interest in Visual Studies and photography and work in impressive facilities with cutting-edge equipment. Joining us at the London College of Fashion at Lime Grove, you will work in our visual studies rooms and media lab, where we operate our photographic printing and process service.

Building upon existing work to create and develop a world-class learning experience for our students, the role is primarily to set up, assist with and demonstrate a range of art media and photographic processes to staff and students in a variety of learning spaces and workshops.

You will be ensuring the day to day running of the visual studies rooms, stocktaking, maintaining art materials and equipment, and issuing art materials to staff as needed. In the media lab you will be taking print requests, monitoring orders and liaising with technical staff and students. We will also look to you to help out with the maintenance of the media lab and dark rooms.

If you have any queries about this role, you may contact the LCF Staffing Team at vacancies@fashion.arts.ac.uk

About you

You will have proven and demonstrable experience of working with a variety of different art media and photographic equipment. A broad understanding of hardware, software, presentation equipment and other digital solutions including complimentary digital technology and competencies is essential.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously in a self-disciplined manner, whilst adhering to an extremely high standard of customer care, are essential characteristics for this role. You should be highly proactive, well organised, command excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills, while operating with a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration.

As well as your keen interest in photography and, in particular, visual studies, we will be impressed by your strong organisation skills and ability to keep calm under pressure. Ideally, you will bring solid experience in a visual studies environment which you gained after formal relevant training or education and be confident working independently.

In return, University of the Arts offers generous leave, an attractive pension scheme and a commitment to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellent, creativity and diversity. Relocation assistance is available.
