The opportunity

We are looking for a lecturer to join our magazine and book publishing team. As a Lecturer, you will support the course team and students on the BA Magazine Journalism and Publishing and MA Publishing. These courses combine theoretical and practical aspects of magazine and book publishing and wider media.

You will work on curriculum development, designing and delivering units, connecting with industry and collaborating with different partners.

This role will be involved in a range of units, with particular emphasis on teaching theoretical and research-based aspects of magazine and book publishing and including supervising BA and MA final projects. The role will include engaging with wider concepts of media and creative industries research, as well as professional development and employability in these sectors. The roles will also support practical group projects and team teaching as well as bring in creative approaches to teaching practice.

About you

You will have some experience in teaching in higher education fields, including developing academic research skills, reading and writing skills; this includes delivering lectures, seminars and workshops as well as delivering blended learning. You may have some experience of curriculum design. You will already have, or will be working on, a PhD in an area of media and contribute to the Media School’s research. You will be highly organised. You may have some professional experience and will be proactive in building industry networks.  You will need to support a group of exciting, diverse and creative students in developing their knowledge and expertise as well as supervising their final projects. You will also work with the course team and management to develop the courses in the context of global, social, ecological and technological change.
