The opportunity

This new role provides a wonderful opportunity to work in the education sector delivering industry-focused skills and knowledge. The role will provide specialist technical support and leadership for the 3D workshop; an area which includes a wide range of resources such as laser cutters, 3D printers, wood turning lathes, drills and routers. Working within the college technical team and alongside academics, the role will be instrumental in developing and improving our students’ ability to successfully understand and challenge the world around us.

This role will include line managing a diverse and highly skilled team of technical staff, while ensuring safe and effective use of resources within the department. You will work with other technical staff to ensure a good service delivery level is maintained, and will lead student inductions and workshops and assist students in specialist technical processes.

About you

You will be technically proficient and should ideally have extensive experience in managing a technical facility, either in higher education or an industry field and should possess good industry knowledge across a broad range of technical areas.

Above all we are looking for a motivated, creative individual who can add to a growing and increasingly important team at the college. We would expect high levels of technical competence and a dedication to technological development.
