The opportunity

We have a secondment opportunity, to cover maternity leave, for a part time Library Assistant 26 hours per week [0.74 FTE] at London Collage of Fashion.

This post is available on a temporary basis from the 7 January 2019 to 4 October 2019 meaning that you will be able to return to your substantive post afterwards as it will be kept open for you.

Please note that the duration may be shortened if the post holder choses to come back earlier.

This would be a good opportunity for an existing Library Assistant to gain more experience of front facing and back room duties and/or to gain different experience at another site.

Working as part of a team you will assist with the effective delivery of library services. You will participate in front-line services and administrative duties including support for self-issue systems, IT and printing. You will assist users with directional and initial information enquiries; including the use of the library catalogue, electronic information resources and participate in roaming support.

Working pattern is:

Monday 9.00 – 5.00

Tuesday 10.00 – 6.00

Wednesday 9.00 – 5.00

Thursday 9.00 – 2.00

The successful candidate is expected to work until 6.15 in the vacations, on a rota basis.

The post is available from Monday 7 January 2019; the start date will be in agreement with your current Learning Resources Manager.

We are advertising this as an internal vacancy initially.   If there is no interest or there are no suitable candidates, we will advertise externally.

Please note this role is not available as a job share.

As this is a secondment opportunity to apply staff must have successfully completed their probation and have been employed by the University for a minimum of 12 months.
If you have already
taken up a secondment opportunity you must wait a year from the commencement of the secondment before you can apply for another secondment.

About you

You should have relevant library or customer service experience and formal training or education to post-16 level. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and be IT literate. Working in a small team you will provide a positive and responsive customer service.

This opportunity is closed to applications.
