The opportunity

The Design School is looking to recruit a Course Leader for the BA Graphic Branding and Identity course.

The course explores how brands are created, visually communicated and draw on the designer’s creativity. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is committed to developing a creative curriculum for graduates entering branding industry. The position invites applicants who are keen to facilitate students’ learning to develop innovative approaches to graphic branding and push boundaries of the creative industries.

As Course Leader you will be responsible to the Programme Director for the academic leadership and management of the BA. This includes maintenance and enhancement of standards; responsibility for the design, development and delivery of the curriculum; management of learning, teaching and assessment of students, including resources allocation. You will bring research and/or industry and teaching experience at undergraduate level.

About you

We are looking for an individual with a qualification at undergraduate and postgraduate level relevant to graphic branding or graphic design. You will have knowledge of delivering innovative projects in industry and/or academic environment and experience of a range of graphic and branding specialist skills and processes. You will also have comprehensive working knowledge of creative pedagogies and course development.

As an academic, previous teaching experience at undergraduate level is essential in addition to experience of professional practice in visual communication with focus on graphic design or branding. You should also demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of design principles, social enterprise, emerging technologies, the creative and cultural industries and the global social, cultural, environmental, political and economic forces that are transforming the design discipline. Previous leadership and academic management experience is desirable.

The successful candidate should possess effective interpersonal skills and be a student-centred teacher focused on promoting diversity and inclusivity, while demonstrating strong communication, management and organisational skills; We are looking for applicants who can build successful relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues and share their expertise.
