The opportunity

The Design School is looking to recruit a Lecturer to the MA Graphic Branding and Identity course.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a highly creative and innovative approach to graphic branding or visual brand identities. The position invites applicants who are interested in the relationship between graphic branding, storytelling exploration of cultural meaning making as a way to push boundaries of the course delivery.

As a lecturer you will be responsible for delivery of the graphic branding units across the course with the focus on brand experience design, culturally based storytelling and inclusive teaching. You will bring research and/or industry and teaching experience at postgraduate level. You will manage and participate in the delivery of student-centered teaching as well as making a significant contribution to the development of the course curriculum, assessment, quality management and recruitment.

The appointed candidate will work under the direction of the Course Leader to deliver the course as well as contribute to School, College and University.

About you

We are looking for an individual with a qualification at undergraduate and postgraduate level relevant to the subject area of graphic branding. You will have knowledge of delivering innovative projects in a professional and/or academic environment and experience of a range of specialist skills in relation to brand design and inclusive teaching. You will also have comprehensive working knowledge of design research methodologies, brand semiotics and visual language as part of brand storytelling.

As an academic, previous teaching experience at postgraduate level is essential in addition to experience of research and/or professional practice in graphic branding or equivalent design practice. You will also be able to cite examples of your approaches to graphic brand storytelling and engagement with cultural contexts.

The successful candidate should possess effective interpersonal skills and be an innovative student-centred teacher focused on promoting diversity and inclusivity, while also able to create and manage discursive frameworks for conceptual and experimental graphic branding. They will possess strong communication and organisational skills, whilst being able to work collaboratively with colleagues to develop the subject area and share expertise.
