The opportunity

The Screen School at London College of Communication is looking to recruit a Lecturer to teach and contribute to the development of BA (Hons) Games Design. This is a well-established and highly successful course and will provide the opportunity to work closely with the Course Leader in enhancing the student experience and contributing to the academic development of this course.

This course resides within the Screen School alongside a range of courses which include MA Games Design, BA Animation, MA Animation, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Film, Television, Live Events, Documentary and Sound Arts and Design. These courses promote a rigorous and exciting environment of exchange and collaboration.  For details of the structure of the BA(Hons) Games Design please refer to the details on the course web page.

As a Lecturer on Games Design, the successful candidate will contribute to the management and participate in the delivery of innovative teaching and assessment of the course as well as making a significant contribution to pedagogic delivery, assessment, quality management and student recruitment across the course.

The appointed candidate will work under the direction of the Course Leader and alongside other course tutors and lecturers to deliver the validated course as well as contributing to School, College and University initiatives including research.

About you

With a proven industry track record in games design development and production, in addition to teaching experience in an HE environment, you will bring high level practical skills, knowledge and academic authority to the role.

You will have current experience of programming with games engines and will have experience of games design and development in a professional context. We are particularly interested in candidates conversant with current trends and who are keen to develop innovative, future directions for games design.

You will have the expertise, enthusiasm and communication skills to inspire our diverse cohort of students together with a current and innovative professional practice and/or research profile. A postgraduate qualification is highly desirable as is a teaching qualification.

Your talent for communicating practice-based skills and theory should be complemented by excellent administrative and organisational skills, you will be an excellent team player and come with a contact book of industry specialists. You will be able to take an active role in student recruitment.
