The opportunity

This new post will lead the commercial development of the Language Centre while ensuring that the Centre’s high rating by Accreditation UK is maintained for its operations. The current commercial courses include UAL’s presessional programme; academic and general English and English Plus courses and you will build on this with a range of new offers aimed at B2C and B2B markets both face to face and online.

You will work closely with other business managers across Academic Enterprise to lead the development of new forms of language and intercultural learning, building on the University’s unique portfolio of creative disciplines and pedagogic approaches. You will also ensure that operations, sales, marketing and customer service are effectively and efficiently managed to maximise profitability. This will include being part of the team that delivers the new AE learner management, e-commerce and CRM system during 2017 with a particular focus on delivering improved sales and operational management for the Language Centre.

About you

We are looking for a commercial language school professional who has a track record of significant profit delivery and growth in a similar or related business area. You will be able to generate business from project idea to delivery with experience of change management and implementation of strategic plans. To do this you will  need excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to present compelling arguments to influence and negotiate satisfactory outcomes at all levels in our organisation. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the commercial acumen to balance risk and opportunity and how they will lead the improvement of the student and customer experience. Experience of managing and leading a team, and successfully encouraging contribution and involvement from staff at all levels and a range of backgrounds is essential.
