The opportunity

London College of Fashion, UAL (LCF) believes that fashion shapes lives. Through LCF’s Making for Change programme, the College is turning belief into action, and action into opportunity. Making for Change is London College of Fashion's training and manufacturing initiative.  Working with local communities in east London and women in prison, we aim to break barriers to employment and change the way people think about fashion production.

This is an exciting new role connecting both the prison and community projects, developing a strategic vision focusing on creating innovative sustainable businesses; exploring new methods of manufacture and circularity whilst supporting local and ethical designers as well as working with and introducing major influencers in the industry. Through the development of long-term relationships and a shared vision, the Head of Business development will shape the development of a social enterprise that will impact both community and the fashion industry.

About you

Based primarily at Poplar Works, an innovative new project in the Poplar community, you will have significant experience of the fashion industry, through either business or production management. You will have the opportunity to create a unique enterprise that will challenge issues related to under efficient manufacturing and over-production in the fashion industry, informing new ways of thinking, innovating, creating, working and manufacturing that supports sustainable business growth. Your role is to develop a production enterprise that looks to inform the future needs of a new manufacturing model.
