The opportunity

The MA Biodesign course is extending its breadth of expertise in topics of sustainable design practices in response to the rapidly emerging biodesign field. As the Lecturer in Design and Fabrication, you will inform the curriculum through your knowledge and expertise working on increasing the impact and relevance of biodesign/ biotechnology pedagogies, sustainable design research and industry engagement in this field.

You will deliver a range of design skills and future fabrication approaches and will work collaboratively with the Course Leader to develop a strong ethos of applied biodesign technology across the course community. Deploying specialist expertise in creative physical and digital fabrication, as well as material innovation and sustainable systems, the Design and Fabrication Lecturer will be key in shaping students design, technical and biological thinking.

About you

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in design studies, engineering, materials science or associated subject. You will bring to the role strong technical skills in Digital Prototyping/Fabrication and 3D modelling software packages. Experience of teaching and assessment in a higher education environment is also required. Your previous experience may include permanent, fractional, or hourly paid contracts. A strong holistic knowledge of the relationship between the environment and the UN Sustainability Goals, as well as of current legislation, and policies relating to climate action is essential.
