The opportunity

Reporting to the Qualifications Development Manager, the Senior Qualifications Officer (Development) is responsible for increasing the development capacity of the team, by managing and undertaking all qualification development activities, communicating with internal and external stakeholders about new and existing qualifications, conducting reviews into UAL Awarding Body's existing portfolio of products/qualifications and making recommendations for amendments and/or withdrawal. This role requires strong decision-making skills, as well as the identification and mitigation for risks arising throughout the qualification development process. 

 This role will contribute to the defining, development and implementation of new policies and procedures, and play a leading role in ensuring qualification compliance with Regulators’ Conditions of Recognition.

The role requires strong project management and communication skills, and the ability to work across multiple projects and prioritise their own time. Opportunities for line management may be available.

About you

It is essential that you are a self-starter and have strong project management skills that enable you to lead multiple projects concurrently to time, quality and cost. You will be able to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines. Knowledge and experience of qualification development is essential, along with an broad understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance with regulators’ Conditions of Recognition (Ofqual, CCEA Regulation, Qualifications Wales). Experience of/in education, creative education or industries sector is desirable.

You also need to be a confident communicator, able to communicate both orally and in writing in a manner that is clear, concise, accurate, and is appropriate to the audience. You should have experience of  working successfully with internal and external stakeholders as part of project delivery. You will be a strong decision maker. 

The successful candidate will need to have a proven track record of delivering work and projects to time and to a high standard. Keen attention to detail is also pivotal in a role where outcomes can be scrutinised by regulators and used in educational settings to deliver qualifications. 

You will need to be motivated, hardworking, highly organised, able to take the initiative and a skilled problem solver. Able to work independently with accuracy and attention to detail, you excel at delivering high quality outcomes, but are also collaborative, supportive and a strong team player.
