The opportunity

In this unique academic role, you will apply your breadth of knowledge of teaching and studying creative subjects at a range of academic levels, to the academic selection and recruitment process for international students looking to join London College of Communication. You will be responsible for advising and interviewing applicants, reviewing their portfolios, and making offers for a variety of courses mostly at the College but on occasion from across the University. A significant part of the role is reviewing portfolios of potential students/applicants and advising them on the suitability of particular courses.

In order to promote London College of Communication and UAL to prospective students, you will need to participate in promotional activities in the UK and abroad, such as school visits, running workshops and delivering guest lectures. Drawing upon your own teaching experience will also be crucial for designing and delivering workshops for potential applicants.

You will need to build your knowledge of the portfolio of courses we have on offer, and work collaboratively with course leaders and programme directors to ensure that there is a clear and shared understanding of entry requirements. Particularly at key moments in the recruitment cycle, the role is fast-paced and challenging – but highly rewarding in the knowledge that you are helping a wide range of students embark on successful academic and professional careers in the creative industries.

About you

To be considered for this role you will:

  • Be qualified to degree-level in an Art, Design or Media discipline, ideally to Masters-degree level
  • Have experience of teaching art, design or media-based subjects at FE and HE level
  • Have the ability to review practice-based arts portfolios
  • Have prior experience of recruiting and working with international students
  • Have knowledge of the procedures and training associated with interviewing and selecting students

If you have any general queries, you may contact Lesley Wilkins, Resourcing Adviser, lcc.jobs@lcc.arts.ac.uk or telephone: 020 7514 7985.
