The opportunity

Contributing to the development, delivery and exploitation of high quality and customer-focused library services at University of the Arts London (UAL), by helping to provide a professional acquisitions, cataloguing, classification and metadata service on a University-wide basis to customer college libraries and Resources & Systems (R&S) colleagues. You'll contribute to developing effective policies for acquisitions and metadata, help ensure agreed procedures are implemented and service level agreements met. You'll support the setting of standards and measures, and assist in the provision of training for library assistants and college staff in a partial shelf-ready environment.

About you

We are looking for someone with a degree level qualification and relevant work experience. A recognised library qualification or relevant experience in other education or information roles and related disciplines is desirable (e.g. CILIP accreditation, non academic library or archives experience, NVQ’s or apprenticeship, library or teaching post graduate cert/dip/MA/MSC).  You'll have knowledge and experience of the use of cataloguing standards (including AACR2, RDA, MARC 21, LC authorities, DDC) and an awareness of best practice in acquisitions and cataloguing practice in higher education, including the use of specialist text editing software. You'll contribute to the work of the team, providing support, assistance and cover where needed and will be able to create realistic plans to achieve deadlines and objectives, effectively prioritising your work.

In return, we offer a competitive employment package including a salary that reflects working in London, generous annual leave, an attractive pension scheme, and a commitment to your continuing personal and career development in an environment that encourages creativity, diversity and excellence.
