The opportunity

The Lecturer in Creative Direction and Innovation is responsible for teaching, curriculum development, and on-going scholarship on BA (Hons) Creative Direction for Fashion. This course is part of the School of Media and Communications at The London College of Fashion. The post-holder will work collaboratively within a course team, deploying specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in creative, innovative and critical directions.

BA (Hons) Creative Direction for Fashion prepares students for a wide range of positions within fashion media and communication and related creative industries. The course a has multidisciplinary focus enabling students to develop and implement an appropriate, compelling and strategic creative vision using communication design practices.

 

The course focusses on concept generation and ideation, iterative design and proposing ideas that are globally informed and future focused.

Using the skills of communication design, interface design, art direction and speculative design, students will be equipped to identify, anticipate and respond to communication opportunities as strategic thinkers and skilled communicators for our ever-changing communication landscape.

About you

Undergraduate degree in Creative Direction for Fashion or associated subject.

* Higher degree (e.g. MA) in Creative Direction for Fashion or associated subject (Desirable).

* PhD or Higher level research degree (Desirable).

* Teaching qualification (PG Cert or equivalent) (Desirable).

* Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (Desirable).

* Teaching & assessment in a Higher Education environment (permanent, fractional, or hourly paid contract).

* Applies an inquiring, innovative and reflexive approach to teaching.

* Considers equality, diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of teaching practice.

* Shows commitment to understanding the range of students’ experiences within a course.

* Collaborates and works effectively within team and across professional groups.

* Ability to work effectively and respectfully with a wide range of people.

* Evidence of research, knowledge exchange and/ or professional practice that contributes to the advancement of creative fashion direction activity and is relevant to the goals of the Programme, College and University.

Evidence of using contacts within subject peer group to develop partnerships or collaborations.

Plans, prioritises and manages resources effectively to achieve objectives.
