The opportunity

We are looking for Associate Lecturers across all stages of BSc Creative Computing at the UAL Creative Computing Institute. The BSc Creative Computing is an exciting mix of computing and creative practice set in the context of a world-renowned creative university. Students learn an to code, build apps, craft digital experiences, explore machine intelligence and more. Students acquire a contemporary set of applied computing skills covering the dominant coding languages and workflows that support innovation in the digital technology sector and creative practice. Building on these skills, and through creative practice, our students also develop your ability to innovate.

The Associate Lecturer post involves responsibility for delivering academic and pastoral teaching including providing formative feedback to students, enhancing their creative coding and critical knowledge and building a studio culture that enables collaborative studies and a place to evolve individual and group learning. As the course evolves, we require additional specialist expertise provided by practitioners that can inspire and motivate students to realise their ambitions to create our futures.

About you

You possess excellent communication and organisational skills and have a track record of working effectively as part of team. You will some have experience of teaching within a higher education environment, and strong skills in effective planning, implementation and delivery. You bring initiative and agility and enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You are keen to learn pedagogies approaches adopting flipped classes when required and blended learning (some prerecord, some live) and work with the students as a team.

At the BSc Creative Computing we support students’ agency in the Curriculum, and we dynamically develop techniques for communicating effectively with students.

You have an established practice and a professional profile in creative computing. You are actively engaged with current discipline debates on social impact and ethical approaches for creative computing. You bring commitment to exploring, expanding and progressing the field of computational practice.

You would have specialist knowledge in coding (Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Processing, API, machine learning), Physical Computing and/or animation, data visualisation and analysis. You would be able to deliver content in these areas to a cohort of students who have just started learningcoding or are staring coding for the first time.
