The opportunity

This is a new and unique role for UAL and an exciting opportunity to establish a new Directorate within the University.

Through your leadership the teams within the new Directorate will deliver key strands of UAL’s strategic commitment to increasing and diversifying access to a creative education.

In this role you will be accountable to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education) and will be responsible for UAL’s Pre-Degree and Outreach provision and leading how the University removes barriers to a creative education through our Access and Participation Plan.

You will promote the University’s values of equity and social justice, working collaboratively with colleagues and students to address inequity, support initiatives to enhance the student experience and contribute toward the University becoming an anti-racist institution.

About you

You will bring substantial experience of leadership and change management gained in a Further or Higher Education environment or through other relevant education settings. As such, you will be an inclusive and persuasive communicator who is able to establish strategic direction and is able to motivate your team and colleagues to achieve ambitious goals.

You will be comfortable managing complex projects to achieve long term goals, and be someone who can build and maintain constructive relationships both inside the University and with external organisations and stakeholders who will support UAL’s ambitions to increase and diversify access to a creative education.

Knowledge and experience of teaching and learning in creative practice education is desirable but not essential in your professional life. Crucially, you will have in-depth knowledge of the tertiary education and outreach sectors and have a clear understanding of how to achieve outstanding student outcomes alongside a strong commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults who participate in UAL’s outreach and further education programmes.

Closing date: Friday, 08 July 2022.

Interview date: Thursday, 21 July 2022.
