The opportunity

We are seeking an outstanding, enthusiastic, and ambitious Personal Assistant and Administrator to provide high-quality and efficient dedicated support to the Director of the Decolonising Arts Institute.

The Decolonising Arts Institute is developing and managing new interdisciplinary collaborations and research-driven projects through partnerships across UAL and beyond.

The PA and Administrator will support the Director of the Institute in balancing the management of multiple large-scale projects with core Institute activity. This will include complex diary management, detailed minute-taking, drafting correspondence, report writing and most importantly establishing strong relationships internally and externally.

Based at the Decolonising Arts Institute and reporting to the Institute Manager, the post holder will work closely with Institute research fellows, associates, and project staff as well as across the wider UAL networks, Institute Management and Advisory Boards members, and external stakeholders and partners.

Key knowledge, skills and experience include:

  • An understanding of arts and education sectors
  • An understanding of issues around decolonisation and anti-racism
  • Experience with relationship building and project management
  • Having a solutions-orientated approach 
  • Competent system skills, including the Microsoft Office suite and in particular PowerPoint and Teams
 

About you

We are looking for a dedicated, driven individual who is looking to use their strong organisational skills and experience including: time management; creative thinking, problem solving and multitasking to support the Institute Director and the Decolonising Arts Institute.

As the first point of contact for a wide range of enquiries for the Director and the Institute, you will have an understanding of the arts and education sector and of the issues around decolonisation and anti-racism.

You will have excellent attention to detail and IT skills as well as experience of diary and relationship management, minute taking and report writing. You will have excellent communications skills, be familiar with working with diverse groups of stakeholders, be committed to inclusive and accessible ways of working, and both confident and experienced as the first point of contact for a wide range of enquiries.
