The opportunity

Grade 2 Library Assistant – Library and Open Access IT 35 hours per week (1 FTE) at London College of Fashion.

Fixed term from 31 October 2022 – 30 October 2023. 

Hours are currently Monday – Friday 9.00 – 5.00 with a 1-hour unpaid break. 

The successful candidate will be expected to work on site until 6.00pm, usually once a week, in term time and until 6.15 usually once a week in the vacation.  

In addition, they may be required to work from home until 6.00pm as part of the ASK/ASK chat rota.

You will contribute to the development and delivery of high quality and student-focused library services which support the academic activities of the University and its constituent Colleges.  You will be based at your home library, although you might occasionally be required to work at any of the other UAL libraries.

You will take part in front-line services and administrative duties including support for self-issue systems, IT and printing. You will assist users with directional and initial information enquiries; including the use of the library catalogue and electronic information resources. 

You will take part in answering enquiries on-line, via our live chat service, ASK and you may also have to take part in shelving activities. 

There may be limited working from home opportunities, subject to operational need. 

About you

You will have relevant library or customer service experience and formal training or education to post-16 level. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and be IT literate. Working in a small team you will provide a positive and responsive customer service.
