The opportunity

The London College of Communication is a world leader in media and design courses, preparing students for careers in the Creative industries. From photography, film and animation, to sound arts and graphic, interactive and special design, we offer courses in a huge range of areas. Working with a highly talented programme team, you will help to develop these exceptional services even further. The Communications and Media programme sits within the Media School and offers under and postgraduate courses in Advertising, Contemporary Media Cultures, Media Communications, Media Communication and Critical Practice, and Public Relations.

We are looking for Associate Lectures to contribute their expertise in creative skills for undergraduate and potentially post graduate dissertation.

Your main responsibility as an Associate Lecturer will be to supervise dissertations and major projects, as well as preparation, teaching, administration and assessment of related curriculum. You may also be responsible for convening weekly taught seminar/workshops that are designed to guide students through dissertations and major project work. You will also be responsible for pedagogic and curriculum development that promotes diversity and inclusivity. You should have experience of undergraduate dissertation supervision.

Your areas of expertise will include at least one of the following or fall in a cognate area: public relations; creative communications; promotional communication; media communications; cultural studies; social and digital media; research design and methods; media and activism; and/or social and cultural change.

You will work closely with course teams, other supervisors, as well as relevant Course Leaders. The job description is available to download below. 

This is an hourly paid lecturer role, and you would be offered work from September 2022.

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience supervising and teaching dissertations and major project in Higher Education. You will take a dynamic and innovative approach to supporting excellent teaching, pedagogy, diversity and inclusivity. 

PG Cert teaching qualification is desirable or equivalent experience.
