Senior Lecturer in Television Practice

The opportunity

The Screen School at London College of Communication is looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer for our BA (Hons) Film and Television course. The course is located in the Screen Schools’ Film and Television programme portfolio of Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. http://www.arts.ac.uk/lcc/about-lcc/screen-school/

BA (Hons) Film and Television teaches both the practice and the contextual; drawing from cultural and critical analysis of fiction and factual film and programme making; with  practice focused on pre-production production and post-production. With an emphasis on technical skills and knowledge, the course aims to advance students’ Television practice skills, including Television studio multi-camera and single-camera location-based production.

There is a strong emphasis on diversity, inclusive screen representation and decolonisation of the curriculum. The course belongs to the Educational Partnership of albert championing and teaching sustainable practice. In the final year of the course, students develop a Dissertation and a major practice-based portfolio.

The successful candidate will lead within the programme portfolio, deliver teaching of your expertise and the needs of the curriculum and the management of the course resources and course staff.

The appointed candidate will work primarily under the direction of the Course Leader to deliver the course while contributing to School, College and University initiatives including research.

About you

You will bring academic knowledge and experience to deliver and further develop students’ practice skills in Television Studio and location-based production.

You will have substantial experience of teaching the core aspects of contemporary Television Studio practice, including multi-camera drama, factual and hybrid production.

Your expertise will contribute to inclusive teaching of British-Black, Asian-British, LGBTQA, gender, and feminist debates within the screen industry.

You will demonstrate an ability to teach and motivate a diverse student population to think creatively and critically and guide them to further research or professional careers. You will promote relationships with professional organisations to provide students with access for networking, collaborative opportunities for research and employability liaisons.

The successful candidate should possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, manage and work alongside full and part time staff. Candidates should demonstrate subject knowledge as well as skills relevant to subject development within an academic, research and professional context.
