The opportunity

We’re looking for a friendly and passionate technician to work closely with students, tutors and fellow technicians across the Weave and Knit Workshops which support the Textile Design programme at Chelsea College of Arts. This person must be able to work independently but will also be working within small teams to deliver the discipline related content.

This is a technical teaching role specific to supporting this course and will involve a wide variety of Knit and Weave skills which will include domestic, dubied knitting machines, table and electronic dobby looms. As well as technical delivery in safe machine use, you’ll also be responsible for teaching core hand skills as well. Delivery of software tutorials are also a part of the role, and experience with relevant weave and knit design cam software is required. Any additional skills in emerging textiles practices which may include responsive textiles, would be an advantage.

About you

Students are at the forefront of this role and some experience in teaching making skills at HE level is desirable. We're looking for a candidate to assist with course aligned teaching for small groups as well as independent 1-1 teaching.  A basic familiarity with online teaching tools is also a very desirable skill.

Should you have any questions not answered in the supporting documentation, please contact Aruna Dhinakaran, Resourcing Assistant at jobs.ccw@arts.ac.uk.
