The opportunity

With the launch of the University’s new 10-year strategy UAL is experiencing an exciting period of change, presenting a wealth of new career opportunities to lead and deliver on the University aims.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement this new business critical role will collaborate with senior stakeholders to focus on College and Indirect category management to deliver efficient and proactive procurement needed to give students the education they need to flourish in a changing world, bringing high-quality creative education to more students than ever before and to change the world through our creative endeavor.

You will maximise the opportunity of UAL being a non- contracting body to drive value for money, whilst also ensuring compliance with both legislative regulations as well as UAL’s governance structures and Standing Financial Orders.

The postholder will advise on the most appropriate route to market, manage contract negotiations and champion robust supplier relationship management, supporting a philosophy of best practice principles for purchasing that upholds the University accreditations, ethical commitments and provides opportunities for suppliers to engage strategically with the University.

About you

Your profile should Include:

  • Extensive experience working in a procurement role in a complex environment (Higher Education and Commercial environment highly desirable)
  • Significant experience in a range of category management.
  • Significant experience and success in managing senior level contract negotiations with large suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Experience of lifecycle contract and supplier relationship management.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing procurement programmes delivering significant change.
  • Ability to analyse external markets and reports to inform the procurement strategy and financial decision making.
  • Experience of building successful internal working relationships at a senior level, making presentations and sharing knowledge on procurement matters.
