The opportunity

We are recruiting one Grade 3 Support Technician Print Services based in Print Services at Chelsea College of Art.

In this technical role, you’ll support the Specialist Technician Print Services with the day-to-day operation of the Print Service at Chelsea College of Arts. Assisting with XEROX digital laser printing, preparation of files for print, book binding, print finishing, and general administration. Primarily staffing the reception area and dealing with day-to-day student, staff and external print enquiries and requests. Demonstrating a professional level of technical expertise, you will provide guidance and advice in the areas of preparing and trouble-shooting print files using Adobe CC; InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop etc. and RIP software.

You must possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team to deal with customer enquiries quickly in a busy environment, ensuring that the experience of each customer is positive and satisfactory. Excellent timekeeping, communication, interpersonal and IT skills are essential as is the ability to provide oral and written information clearly and concisely.

Your duties will include assisting with quotations and general departmental administration and to confidently provide cover for colleagues when necessary.

About you

Relevant qualifications to BA level in Art, Design or Performance and/ or equivalent industry experience in a print environment.

Technical knowledge of and practical experience with laser print and print finishing machinery such as electric guillotines, perfect binders etc.

Working knowledge of print production, file preparation, finishing and logistics.

Experience of how to troubleshoot equipment & file issues.

In-depth knowledge of Adobe CC (InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop).

Confident in the use of MS Office (particularly Word, Excel and Teams).

Working with bespoke RIP software (namely Fiery Command Workstation 6).

Demonstrable experience maintaining accurate records and spreadsheets.

Communicates effectively orally, in writing and/or using visual media.

Works collaboratively in a team and with different professional groups.
