Who are LCC Technical Resources?

As a team, we manage the technical spaces and resources at London College of Communication (LCC) in ways that support the needs of our community: from teaching, learning, research and knowledge exchange to events, exhibitions and commercial activity.

Inclusive and dynamic, we have a strong commitment to developing staff and supporting them to reach their full potential.

Purpose of the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Digital Arts Technical Team, supporting students studying visual effects, traditional and digital animation, immersive technologies and games design.

You will work with students and staff on the following courses: BA Immersive Media & Mixed Reality, MA Virtual Reality, BA Computer Animation & Visual Effects, MA VFX, MA 3D Computer Animation, BA Games Art, BA and MA Games Design, BA and MA Animation.

You will support the use of software, hardware and specialist equipment. You will develop workshops & resources and provide professional support, technical expertise, guidance and advice in VR, AR and MR technologies across a wide range of courses within the MIDA (Moving Image and Digital Arts) Programme.

Drawing upon your extensive knowledge and experience, you will support student learning in subjects including but not limited to: VR, AR and MR application development, 360º video, motion capture, immersive entertainment, and relevant platforms, tools and methodologies. This includes operation of software such as Unity and Unreal Engine. You will work on immersive technology for VFX, animation, games and XR pipelines, helping students to develop a broad range of increasingly essential technical skills.

You will manage some of the MIDA studios, alongside other technical colleagues, and play an integral part in ensuring that students at LCC have access to the fullest range of technical resources, and experience the latest in emerging and digital technologies, and that those resources are managed & used safely and efficiently.

As an active member of the technical team, you will contribute to the technical resources strategy by providing vital information and data to the technical coordinator and technical managers. Your role will encompass communicating with stakeholders, acting as a point of contact for technical support and ensuring access to up-to-date and accurate information for students, academics, technicians, and other university staff.

LCC is enjoying significant growth and transformation as we prepare to move to our new cutting-edge London Campus in 2026 and you will play an important role in helping to influence and shape its development.

About you

We are looking for an experienced, adaptable, dynamic and motivated person with a wide range of skills. Ideally, a creative individual with a passion for XR technology and its related subjects and workflows, who will relish the challenge of supporting a diverse range of talented creatives and renowned academics.

We need someone who is a good communicator, able to explain complex information clearly. You will be confident in imparting skills and knowledge to students, academic and other technical staff. Experience of supporting customers and stakeholders in a creative environment is key. Knowledge of Health & Safety management related to the designated technical areas and studios is important. You will have an excellent knowledge of analogue and digital studio techniques used for visual effects and related subjects, including software and hardware maintenance, studio & equipment maintenance and a strong knowledge of XR and emerging technologies.

You will also have working knowledge and willingness to learn several of the following relevant software: Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender, Cinema 4D, After Effects, Premiere Pro and more. Also, good working knowledge of hardware and software systems for XR technologies.

If there are any aspects of the role that you may require training in, then this will be provided. LCC is committed to the personal and professional development of its technical staff.
