The opportunity

We are now seeking to appoint a Chief Social Purpose Officer, a new position and member of the University’s Executive Board. Working with the President and Vice-Chancellor and Executive Board colleagues, this role will develop, define and deliver the Social Purpose Strategy for UAL. The CSPO will work with colleagues from across the university, and lead the teams in Policy, Public Affairs, Communications, Marketing and Brand, Development and Alumni Relations.

About you

The ideal candidate will have extensive and current knowledge in the areas of social purpose and policy development. Experience may have been gained beyond the Higher Education sector, in complex and public-facing organisations. You will possess a demonstrable record of advising and guiding transformational change through influencing, persuasion, and advocacy.  You will be a proactive strategic thinker and problem solver with high level communication skills across multiple audiences and stakeholders. You will be collaborative, enjoy building trusting, reciprocal relationships at work, and be as comfortable leading your teams as inspiring change across the organisation.

You will share our values and will possess exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, representing UAL with a wide range of stakeholders. Like us, you believe that equality, diversity and inclusion are integral to thriving organisations and you will share our commitment to creating a university where we can all be ourselves and reach our full potential.

UAL aims to be an equal opportunities employer embracing diversity in all areas of activity and positively welcomes applications from black and minority ethnic, female and disabled applicants who are currently underrepresented at this level.

We are working to make UAL an anti-racist university and pledge that 30% of our staff will be people of colour by 2024.

Please note that the recruitment for this role is being managed by Perret Laver.

Closing date – Monday, 3 January 2022 at 12noon.
