The opportunity

Reporting into the Associate Director of Finance (Academic Finance and Business Development), the post holder will provide strong leadership and management for the college-based finance teams, ensuring the teams deliver an effective financial management and business partnering service to the college and operate in accordance with the overall university framework. You will be a positive driver of change and they will develop a culture of continuous improvement within the college finance teams. 

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • A full professional accounting qualification.
  • Experience of working in a fast-moving financial environment, working to key milestones and delivering comprehensive results to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of working with large data sets, ability to write and develop financial models and reports using excel at an advanced standard.
  • Experience of working across a large complex organisation and successfully influencing and managing change.
  • Experience of leading and managing a large team to deliver agreed objectives and goals.
  • Brilliant communication skills, experience being a driver for change and bringing about continuous improvement.
  • Ideally, a background working in the higher education or wider public sector, but this is not essential.

The Head of Academic Finance will be based in Granary Square - CSM Campus in Kings Cross, as well as regularly meeting up with the Finance teams and stakeholders at the respective Colleges. UAL offers flexible working arrangements, with an expectation that 50% of your time will be spent onsite.
